Bijilo, The Gambia – September 23, 2024: As part of the implementation of a three (3) months maize project (September – November 2024), GYIN Gambia Chapter today, Monday, 23rd September 2024 has deployed its profiling team to profile 3,000 maize farmers in The Gambia.

The intervention regions are: Lower River Region (LRR), North Bank Region (NBR), Central River Region South (CRR South), Central River Region North (CRR North) and Upper River Region (URR) respectively.

GYIN Gambia is currently working with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in Canada to support 3,000 farmers in the Maize Value Chain in The Gambia.

As part of the profiling exercise, GYIN Gambia team will profile 3,000 farmers, including their demographic and socio-economic data, and form them into a Learning, Innovative and Development Platforms (LINDEP).

This second project was endorsed after the successful implementation of the initial project which was on Chili Pepper Value Chain Project targeting 2,000 farmers.

The profiling of the farmers in the project intervention regions will update, GYIN Gambia and COL of farmers in maize production thus linked beneficiaries (maize farmers) with stakeholders.

The collaboration between GYIN Gambia and the Commonwealth of Learning underscores a shared commitment to promoting agricultural development and empowering farmers, particularly Returnee Migrants, Women, and Youth, who play a crucial role in driving rural transformation and sustainable development.
