Brusubi, The Gambia – The Gambia Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter and Hope for the Future Foundation have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen support for migrant returnees and survivors of human trafficking. The collaboration was formalized during a meeting held at GYIN Gambia Headquarters in Brusubi Phase 1, where both organizations outlined a joint framework to promote entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.

Under the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the partnership will focus on:

  • Delivering entrepreneurship and business management training.
  • Providing access to startup grants and seed funding opportunities.
  • Offering mentorship and incubation support for small businesses.
  • Integrating beneficiaries into existing youth entrepreneurship programs.

Speaking at the meeting, Rosamond Erica Johnson, Executive Director of Hope for the Future Foundation, highlighted the importance of the collaboration:

“Many of the beneficiaries we work with are motivated to become self-reliant but lack the training, mentorship, and financial resources to start or expand small businesses. Through this partnership with GYIN Gambia Chapter, we believe these individuals can gain the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to successfully launch and manage enterprises.”

She emphasized that the initiative would help establish sustainable livelihoods, reduce vulnerability to re-migration, and strengthen community resilience.

Mamadou Edrisa Njie, Executive Director of GYIN Gambia Chapter, commended Hope for the Future Foundation for its dedication to supporting vulnerable groups. He reaffirmed GYIN’s commitment to open-door partnerships, noting:

“Collaborating to create sustainable opportunities for vulnerable communities in The Gambia is achievable, and our organization is ready to work hand-in-hand with partners to make this vision a reality.”
