Ms Marie Sambou, an Oyster Farmer and the Winner of GYIN Gambia’s ‘Young Business Innovation of the Year 2019’ Award has used her first disbursement of the award prize to construct a fiber boat for her Oyster farming.

After receiving her first payment in May, she bought timber wood, bags of white cement, nails, sheets of fiber plate, gallons of floor paint etc. and then contracted a carpenter for the building of the boat.

Ms Sambou is a native of Kombo Lamin in the West Coast Region and into Oyster Farming and White Lime Production.

During a performance assessment by GYIN Gambia, Ms Sambou expressed gratitude and appreciation to the P2RS project for the Rural Youth Awards Categories’ to the tune of D35,000.00 each.

She also thanked GYIN Gambia for their efforts in celebrating the success of rural youths and by extension giving them financial support.

 Mr Sarjo Jarju, the Rural Youth Awards Chairperson, while representing the GYIN Gambia Executive Director, congratulated the award winners for their hard work and dedication to their work.

He used the opportunity to call on other rural youths to emulate the award winners in creating self-employment for themselves.
