On Saturday, 24/08/2024: The Media Academy for Journalism and Communication (MAJaC) situated in Bakau Newtown South has oriented 16 students who are enrolled in its newly launched 9-month Communication Training Program.
MAJaC is implementing a project on combating irregular migration targeting communications officers of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the Gambia.
The training, which is funded by the Gambia Media Support (GAMES) based in Denmark, will run thrice a week with 2-hour sessions.
After the training, the participants would form part of a MAJaC-CSO coalition to advocate against irregular migration.
The intensive 9-month training would focus on mass communication, social media management, film & photography, and event management, among other areas.
The training is meant to help boost their advocacy, especially on issues relating to combating irregular migration.
The Global Youth Innovative Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter is one of the beneficiaries CSOs whose staff member- Ms Jainaba Njie, Program Officer would fully participate in MAJaC’s programme.
The said staff, upon completion of this training, would be a member of a CSO coalition.
MAJaC trains quality journalists and effective communicators, who work in newsrooms and corporate departments in the public and private sectors in the country.
