The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) International headquarters based in Washington DC, United States of America, Dr. Amina Sillah who is currently on an official visit to the Gambia, on Wednesday, 26th June, 2019 pay a courtesy call to GYIN Gambia Secretariat in Churchill’s Town.

The purpose of her visit to GYIN Gambia was meant to familiarized herself with the organization’s programmes and challenges as per its activities.

As part of her visit, she will be meeting with stakeholder working with GYIN Gambia Chapter.

During the meeting, the GYIN Gambia Executive Director, Mamadou Edrisa Njie welcomed his boss and congratulated her efforts in visiting the GYIN Gambia Secretariat.

He informed her about the programmes and activities that the GYIN Gambia is implementing with financial support from the National Agricultural Land and Water Management Development Project (Nema) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) through the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) Gambia office.

Njie also lamented the numerous challenges that the organization has been grappling with since its inception ranging from mobility, visibility, office furniture, office equipment, etc.

In her intervention, Dr Sillah commended GYIN Gambia for its hardwork over the years in championing the course of young people in the country.  According to her, GYIN Gambia is already a household name in the country and therefore needs to work harder to maintain the trust and confidents bestow on them.

She promised to help the organization in resource mobilization to be able to implement its activities without donor support.

The meeting also featured a PowerPoint presentation by the GYIN Gambia Financial Controller, Mrs Mariam Saine. The presentation outlined the GYIN Gambia background, Rural Youth Programme, Challenges as well as Recommendation.

Present at the meeting were the GYIN Gambia head of programmes, Mrs Jainaba Manjang, Sarjo Jarju and Mrs Hawa Singhateh.
