Bijilo- 30th May, 2020: The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter will on Monday 1st June, 2020 commence a five-day virtual online training for thirty (30) rural youth drawn across the rural regions of the country on records keeping and business taxation payments.
The online training, which targets rural youth with registered businesses, is geared towards exposing them in digital learning thus enabling them to digitalize their businesses.
The training is fully funded by the Entrepreneurship Private Sector Development Project (EPSD) focusing on women and youth, and bankrolled by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment (MoTIE) & United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Banjul Office.
With technical coordination and support by the International Trade Center (ITC)/ Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) and the National Youth Council (NYC), the training is designed to equip participants on the Importance of Business Records Keeping and ‘payments of Taxes’.
The main aim of the training is to curb irregular migration and creating rural enterprises, thus enhancing employability for rural youth in rural Gambia.
The training is part of recommendations from GYIN Gambia’s Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Information Technology (ELIT) National Youth Summer Camp held from 1st to 10th September, 2019, which was during which participants recommended for training on records keeping and taxation.
Therefore, this training will equip participants to know their turn-over enabling them to understand their tax obligations.
As part of the selection process of participants in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID19) Pandemic, young entrepreneurs’ whose businesses are prone to the pandemic outbreak are considered to partake in the training.
After the five-day program, GYIN Gambia will also provide short video clips on the training that the participants can use to watch. These videos will be shared via WhatsApp and also uploaded on GYIN Gambia YouTube. This will all be materials that other rural youth can use and learn.
