Serrekunda, The Gambia – September 18, 2024 – A meeting between the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter and The Hub culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step towards empowering Gambian youth.

Key attendees included Mamadou Edrisa Njie, Executive Director of GYIN Gambia Chapter, Beran Dondeh Gillen, Co-Founder and CEO of The Hub, along with Rassiatou Jallow, Programs & Comms Officer, The Hub and Jainaba Njie Programme Officer, GYIN Gambia.

The gathering centered on a presentation by Beran Dondeh Gillen and discussions of future collaborations, with a focus on two promising initiatives. These projects aim to support Gambians, particularly women beyond the Banjul area, in becoming successful, sustainable entrepreneurs. The partnership hints at exciting possibilities in digital skills training, with discussions touching on cutting-edge technologies that could shape the future of Gambian entrepreneurship.

Sustainability emerged as a central theme, with both organizations emphasizing community empowerment through self-reliance and mutual support. Beran Dondeh Gillen underscored this point, stating, “Only Gambians can support Gambians. We should not wait for others to help.”

Mamadou Edrisa Njie, Executive Director of GYIN, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “As a cooperation partner, GYIN Gambia is committed to supporting The Hub in their future endeavors.
