Culled from the National Youth Council Facebook page, it reads: ‘Today marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a safer, more inclusive future for our youth. We are thrilled to convey a three-day National Consultation with government officials, Security personnel, young people, and other stakeholders on the development of the National Action Plan on Youth Peace and Security
This Consultation is a concerted effort to empower young people, ensuring their voices are heard in peacebuilding and security efforts. It’s time to recognize the vital role that youth play in shaping a peaceful society.
Key Highlights:
– Strengthening youth participation in decision-making processes.
– Promoting educational programs focused on peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
– Encouraging partnerships between government, NGOs, and youth organizations.
Together, we can build a culture of peace and security that includes every young person in The Gambia.
During the three days, stakeholders assessed the effectiveness of proposed strategies and objectives which involves presentations and outlining the key components of the action plan.
This was followed by group discussions where participants provide feedback and suggest recommendations. The goal is to ensure that the plan accurately reflects the needs and aspirations of young people and addresses the challenges they face in the context of peace and security.
