Senegambia, The Gambia – September 19, 2024 – As part of its preparation to train about 200 small scale cross border traders on entrepreneurship, GYIN Gambia together with its partner- Doorways, on Monday 16th September 2024 commenced a 10-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for 11 potential trainers whom after the training, 2 would be selected to deliver the actual training for the beneficiaries.
The actual training will be held in Soma, Lower River Region (LRR) and Basse, Upper River Region (URR) of which 100 trainees in each region.
The ToT workshop is currently taking place at the Senegambia Beach Hotel.
The Project, which is funded by Trade Facilitation West Africa (TFWA), is implemented and coordinated by GYIN Gambia in partnership with Doorways.
The trainers were selected out of 60 applicants during a call for Expression of Interest.
In the first week of the workshop, the trainers will each deliver a training session to their fellow trainers, who act as participants in the session. Upon completion of each session, the master trainer and the other trainers provide the trainer who just held the session with feedback.
It is expected that this approach will increase the quality of the ToT workshop by creating the opportunity to choose the best trainers upon completion of the workshop. It also ensures a high-quality implementation in case a trainer is unable to conduct all sessions and increases the sustainable impact the project has because the newly trained trainers will be able to deliver the training to more beneficiaries after the end of the project.
The Master trainers for the ToT are Agbekoh Kwassi Lebe from TWFA & World Bank Group and Dr. Carina Bahlayer, Co-founder, Doorways gGmbH.
