Through the transformative power of education and opportunity, @COL4D and the Global Youth Innovation Network Gambia Chapter @GYINGambia (GYIN Gambia Chapter) are empowering returnee migrants, women and youth farmers through training and support through its Chilli Pepper Project.

The training provided by COL and GYIN Gambia has equipped many young farmers in Gambia with comprehensive knowledge about the steps and processes involved in the chilli pepper production value chain along with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in this challenging agricultural landscape.

According to Professor Adekunle, Adviser: Lifelong Learning for Farmers COL, when the learning gaps in the lives of farmers are bridged, they become transformed into wealth creators.

The farmers’ newfound income not only provides for family needs but also enables them to pay for their children’s education and participate in a women’s community-saving scheme, ensuring financial stability and empowerment.

Through the transformative impact of market linkages facilitated by the GYIN Gambia Chapter and the efforts of the youth and women farmers, they have secured a fair price for their chilli products, eliminating the need to travel far in search of buyers. This increases their income and reduces the burden on rural farmers, allowing them to focus on what they do best – farming.
