On Tuesday, 03/09/2024, The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter opened doors to welcome The Gambia Youth Chamber of Commerce (GYCC) as a strategic partnership aimed at empowering youth entrepreneurs and fostering their entrepreneurial skills in The Gambia tops the discussions.

The meeting focused on exploring collaboration opportunities to support youth entrepreneurship with the necessary skills in the area of agribusiness, packaging and labelling, trade fairs etc.

Mr Lamin Saidykhan, Cooperate Affairs Manager, GYCC commended GYIN Gambia for welcoming them saying that- here is my home and I feel at home.

He spoke on the significance of organizing joint activities and programmes, noting that with partnership and networking, GYCC and GYIN Gambia will achieve a lot.

He narrated his organization’s previous successfully implemented activities, while citing their entrepreneurship trainings that were all gears towards enhancing the skills of young entrepreneurs.

Mamadou Edrisa Njie, Executive Director, GYIN Gambia thanked GYCC for the programmes and activities they are conducting in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Mr Njie said the proposed collaboration between GYIN Gambia and GYCC is a step in the right direction adding that both are registered in the country to contribute to the development of the youth, women and returnee migrants.

By combining resources and expertise, Njie went on to say that it will create an impactful programme that will enhance the skills of young entrepreneurs and improve market linkages for youth-led businesses.

Mr. Njie expressed optimistic in seeing the positive outcomes of this collaboration and the lasting impact it will have on the membership and beneficiaries.

Mamadou Edrisa Njie finally urged GYCC to send in draft MoU to formalize the partnership soonest.

On her speech, Mrs. Ida L.B Ceesay, Business Development Officer, GYIN Gambia said the proposed partnership will mark a significant step towards empowering young entrepreneurs’ and create businesses.

For Ms Jainaba Njie, GYIN Gambia’s Programme Officer, A collaboration with GYCC will leverage our strength and resources to better support young entrepreneurs in The Gambia, as together, we can make a difference.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to work together on various initiatives to empower youth and promote the entrepreneurial skills. Both organisations expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations and the positive impact they can achieve together.
