Bijilo, 21st October, 2024 – GYIN Gambia Chapter Secretariat held its first meeting for the final quarter of the year. Key staff and interns gathered to discuss progress on ongoing projects, upcoming plans, and challenges faced.
Mrs. Ida L.B. Ceesay, Business Development Officer cum Logistics Expert- Trade Facilitation West Africa (TFWA) Program in The Gambia provided an overview of the TFWA project, which focuses on Small-Scale Cross-Border traders in Soma, Lower River Region (LRR) and Basse, Upper River Region (URR). The TFWA Program targeted 200 participants for a six weeks training. She shared updates on trainer certifications and the progress made so far.
Ms. Jainaba Njie, Program Officer at GYIN Gambia Chapter briefed the team on other projects, Memmorandum of Understanding (MoU’s) signed with partners such as The Gambia Chamber of Commerece and Industrey (GCCI), CASA Gambia, Fulfilment Quest Initiative and the Hub.
Ms Njie also spoke on the future collaborations between GYIN Gambia and Freedom House for 2024 activities saying that Freddom House supported GYIN Gambia to develop a Strategy Plan and Communication Strategy. She said Freedom House as part of the collobration, is to support GYIN Gambia publish human interest stories to highlight project impacts.
Additionally, GCCI is has contarcted GYIN Gambia in it’s 4P Program to support seven farmer organisations through business plan development in Central River Region North and South.
The meeting also touched on the successful maize programme under Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in Canada, with data collection nearly halfway complete and plans to wrap up reports by the end of November.
The meeting was a success, setting a clear path forward as GYIN Gambia continues to work on its mission to support youth-led development and foster meaningful partnerships. Further updates will be shared in the coming weeks.
As the year draws to a close, the team looks forward to wrapping up the quarter and gearing up for 2025, with plans to hold another meeting at the end of December. Participants included Ida L.B. Ceesay, Jainaba Njie, Mamadou Edrisa Njie, Mariam Saine, and two interns.
