Today, o6/11/2024: GYIN Gambia Chapter proudly participated in the Africa-Europe High-Level Forum 2024, a pivotal event aimed at fostering stronger ties between the two continents. Organized by the Africa-Europe Foundation, the forum brought together experts, leaders, and organisations to explore strategic areas of action that promise to reshape Africa-Europe relations.
The discussions focused on creating a forward-looking partnership, built on equality and shared opportunities. Topics included resource mobilization, sustainable infrastructure, and health priorities, aligning with Africa’s Agenda 2063 and Europe’s strategic interests.
GYIN Gambia’s participation is particularly significant as the organisation is currently implementing a climate change project funded by the Africa-Europe Foundation. This project aims to bridge the gap between African and European youth through collaborative think tanks focused on climate change, sustainability, and climate justice. The youth involved in this initiative will explore complex global topics such as waste management, water conservation, and recycling, with experts contributing their knowledge in these fields. Through both local and digital meetings, the Youth Think Tank will connect young leaders across borders and continents, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and empowering them to advocate for sustainable change in their communities.
By taking part in this important forum, GYIN Gambia continues to promote the active engagement of youth in shaping climate action and sustainability solutions. This forum reinforces the potential of the next generation to lead efforts in driving positive change across the African and European continents.
The Africa-Europe Foundation is a consortium entity founded by a leading European think-tank, Friends of Europe, and a leading African Foundation, Mo Ibrahim Foundation, in partnership with the Africa Climate Change Foundation and the ONE Campaign and with a multitude of stakeholders from civil society, business, policymaking and the youth sector across Africa and Europe.
The Africa-Europe Foundation collaborates with high-impact organisations and leaders from civil society, business, and politics both from Africa and Europe. The foundation envisions to enlarge the Africa-Europe partnership to new and diverse actors by building an inclusive and multi-stakeholder “platform of platforms” and focusing on younger generations.
