On Thursday, 8th August 2024, Mamadou Edrisa Njie, Executive Director of GYIN Gambia welcomes the network’s new Advisory Board of Director who will serve for a period of five (5) years from 2024 – 2029.

During the meeting, Mr Njie expressed his appreciation and thanked them on behalf GYIN Gambia membership for accepting to serve in the Advisory Board.

Giving insights into the network’s background history, he explained that the Advisory Board of Directors will help the network continue gaining its momentum in national development.

Mr. Njie further delved into GYIN Gambia’s roots, flashing back to the visionaries who laid the foundation.

He also presented GYIN’s ongoing projects, from rural entrepreneurship training to environmental initiatives. Mr Njie spoke on the network’s core values which include integrity, inclusivity, and innovation, which he described as vital in decision-making and interactions.

According to Mr Njie, regular reviews and adjustments play a crucial role in refining alignment with GYIN Gambia’s mission and vision.

In her speech, Mrs Binta Gibba, Vice Chairperson, Board of Director thanked GYIN Gambia entrusting them with the Board Membership.

She assured that as Board Members, they will support GYIN Gambia to put policies in place to prevent conflict of interest. These policies, she went on, will guide the Advisory Board and GYIN Gambia in situations where personal interests may intersect with their responsibilities.

For her part, Ms Jainaba Njie, Program Officer at GYIN Gambia said the network will regularly provide activity reports summarizing its achievements, challenges, and overall impact to the Advisory Board.  She noted that the strategic plans outlined future goals, initiatives, and the roadmap for advancing youth empowerment and rural development.

Beyond roles and responsibilities, Ms. Njie encouraged active participation, collaboration, and open dialogue among board members, adding that GYIN Gambia holds strong believe that the Advisory Board will help the network and its membership in making a lasting impact on the lives of women, returnee migrants and young people in The Gambia.

Ms. Njie added: “Your commitment and expertise in your various fields of work shows a great ability to undoubtedly contribute significantly to our mission.”

“As we embark on this five years journey together, guided by transparency, ethical standards, and a shared vision, we look forward to witnessing the positive impact we can create. Our collective efforts will pave the way for self-sustaining opportunities that transform communities and uplift the next generation,” quantified Ms Njie

Mr Tom Senghore, Ms. Mariama Krubally and Mrs. Fanta Tambajang all spoke on the crucial roles and responsibilities of the Advisory Board as well as the good work GYIN Gambia is doing in the country and beyond.
