Meet Jainaba Njie, a dedicated staff member of GYIN Gambia, who has made a remarkable transition from Administrative Officer to Program Officer after completing a six-week training on Project Management with Freedom House, through its Promoting Rights and Justice Activity in The Gambia.
The intensive training, designed to equip participants with essential project management skills, has propelled Ms. Njie into a role with greater responsibilities. As the new Program Officer at GYIN Gambia, she now coordinates training programs, writes detailed reports, updates the organization’s website, and develops project proposals and programs. The training covered strategic planning, effective communication, risk management, leadership, team building, and adaptability, all crucial skills for success in the field.
Since completing the training, Ms. Njie has taken on a significant role in a climate change project in collaboration with Inspiresouls in Germany and Rwanda. As the Head Coordinator for The Gambia, she is spearheading the “From Africa To Europe” (FATE) project, which aims to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change, empower youths to actively engage in climate resilience, and facilitate discussions on innovative environmental solutions.
Ms. Njie credits the Freedom House training for enhancing her project management skills, particularly in writing compelling and fundable proposals. GYIN Gambia believes in the power of practical experience to complement theoretical knowledge, and Ms. Njie’s journey is a proof to this belief. Her project management career, bolstered by the Freedom House training, began with hands-on experience that has proven invaluable.
